Denison…moving forward kicking back

Only four miles from the shores of mammoth Lake Texoma, visitors can experience Denison, Texas and the many things this community has to offer. Its downtown historic district is one of the few designated Arts Districts in the state of Texas. Home to multiple visual and performing art venues including great art galleries and studios, and the Rialto Theater which are open year round.

Just recently Denison’s downtown area was named an entertainment district which has brought more recognition to the arts in the community. Multiple music events sponsored by local organizations can be enjoyed throughout the year at Heritage Park. The lively Music on Main sponsored by Denison Main Street Program is held each Friday night in June and July and brings hundreds to the park to enjoy the great musical performances.

To further enhance the entertainment district, Denison is focused on recruitment and establishment of the craft beverage industry in the downtown area and throughout the community. Currently Main Street has the Homestead Winery and most recently opened was Ivanhoe Ale. Located nearby is IronRoot Distillery featuring vodka, gin and moonshine for its customers.

Known as an “event community” Denison hosts large events on a monthly basis and many smaller ones in between. Some of the highlights that you don’t want to miss are the Spring Art Walk, the Memorial Day Parade, July 4th Fireworks Show, US National Aerobatic Competition, the Fall Art Walk , multiple car shows and the Christmas Parade and the month-long Holiday Lights.

Visitors to Texoma can enjoy a relaxing night at one of Denison’s many motels and enjoy a great meal at one of its dining establishments that have favorite dishes for the entire family’s appetite.
